Remembrance Sunday 8th November 2020 In Tiptree
In view of the coronavirus pandemic, it was decided by the Parish Council not to have a formal Remembrance Sunday Ceremony at the War Memorial with a road closure.
As the Poppy Appeal organiser, I am now trying to facilitate the laying of wreaths at the war memorial. I have already approached the groups who usually obtain wreaths through myself. We are thinking of setting up a number of 30-minute slots throughout the day so that small groups can lay their wreath(s). Obviously, any groups will need to comply with the social distancing regulations in force on the day.
If you would like me to get a wreath for you this 75th Anniversary year of WW2, and you haven’t already organised one, please get in touch with me. I can also get crosses. If your group would like to book a slot at the war memorial, please let me know a range of times during the day that would suit you, so that I can co-ordinate the day.
If any individual, who has a relative listed on our war memorial / was a resident of Tiptree at the time of their death in service, please also get in touch to see if I can find a slot for you to pay your respects.
I can supply all groups with the standard words, though you can devise your own ceremony. I also intend to give each group a small list of the names of the Tiptree fallen in the two world wars, so that every name can be read out at the war memorial during the day.
There is a possibility that a small formal ceremony will be videoed and put on social media, so that it can be viewed online.
I will provide an update early in November.
