The nearest railway stations to Tiptree are Kelvedon and Witham. The number 91 bus serves both stations, the bus journey taking around 12 minutes to Kelvedon and 24 minutes to Witham. It takes around 12 minutes to drive from the centre of Tiptree to Kelvedon Station and around 20 minute to Witham Station. There are taxis at both stations, but you may need to call for one at certain times in the day. Information about both stations can be found on this link.
Kelvedon railway station is off Station Road, the ticket office being reached from the Tiptree side of the railway bridge and the car park on the other side of the line. The address is Station Road, Kelvedon, CO5 9NP.
Witham railway station is on Albert Road, there is a one way system to negotiate if you wish to drop somebody off at the door and from Tiptree involves continuing on Braintree Road to the large roundabout near the supermarket, take the 3rd exit, then turn left into Cut Throat Lane and right into Albert Road. The car park is in Easton Road before the railway bridge on the Tiptree side of the line. The address is Albert Road, Witham, CM8 2BS. There is now a bridge connection from the car park to the station and there is also a Council owned car park in Easton Road.
Where can I travel to?
From these stations you can travel to London Stratford Station or Liverpool Street Station; to Shenfield to access stops to Southend; to Colchester, Clacton-on-Sea, Frinton-on-Sea, Walton-on-the-Naze, Ipswich, Norwich, Peterborough, Bury St. Edmunds and Sudbury, though it may be necessary to change trains.
Service frequency
From Witham there is a service to Liverpool Street approximately every 15 minutes during the working day and more frequently during the rush hours, the journey takes approximately 45 minutes. Like Witham, the service from Kelvedon is approximately every 30 minutes with a duration of approximately 50 minutes.
